This oral history collection, coordinated by Eagle Scout candidate Brendan Brophy, employs an array of visual materials to enhance and supplement interviews with Beverly’s senior citizens, as conducted by Troop 49’s scouts. Participating seniors, unless known personally by Brendan, were recruited by the Beverly Council on Aging. They include veterans, Beverly High School cross-country coaches, and others interested in sharing both life stories and lessons drawn from them.
By capturing their lived history, these unique stories seek to increase our understanding and appreciation of Beverly’s early 21st century elders, and to preserve their insights and perspectives for future Beverly residents. With the help of the Beverly Public Library, Brendan hopes that the archive will remain accessible and prove valuable to people of all ages for years to come.
