The Swampscott Public Library's Digital Heritage collection presents historical photographs relating the history of our community.
Swampscott, Mass. was first settled in 1629 as part of the city of Lynn and was officially incorporated in 1852. The town has a population of approximately 15,000 and is three square miles in size.
Swampscott was originally a fishing village. During the early twentieth century the town became a desirable resort destination with many fine hotels along its beaches.
This is a collection of podcasts featuring highlights of Swampscott, MA history.
The interviews were conducted by a librarian from the Swampscott Public Library in collaboration with long time members of the Swampscott community. Recording sessions began during the Covid – 19 pandemic of 2020 when many of us needed to work from home and turned to projects that could be done by phone or online.
