Trees, a stump, and map of the trails in Cochran Bird Sanctuary
-
This image shows trees and stumps in the Cochran Bird Sanctuary. In the center is a trail map posed on a stump. There is also a pad of paper in the bottom right corner.
-
The map may be connected to the Thompson Memorial, which was built for Augustus Porter Thompson, P. A. Class of 1892, who was the sanctuary's first manager, and Augustus Porter Thompson, Jr. P. A. Class of 1928, who died a year after graduating. The memorial is a stone bench and the concave stone placed on the top of a hill to overlook the skyline of the campus.
-
A previous description, possibly written by Tim Sprattler, noted that this map "may be the last of the markers for the side trails in the sanctuary. It is on a pole that is not sunk in the ground and has been in different places on various trips into the memorial bench."
