COVID Chronicles with John Nguyen
-
In Episode 11 of COVID Chronicles, Josiah sat down with John Nguyen from Maki Sushi Bar & Grill.
-
Joshua Bedrosian interviews John Nguyen of Maki Sushi Bar and Grill. According to John, the restaurant took an dramatic hit from the pandemic and was forced to shift to take-out and delivery (for the first time in nine years) for a short while. The restaurant began offering online ordering with a full menu and monthly specials. Business has been relatively good, but several employees have been laid off. He has encouraged his staff to apply for unemployment. Peabody Main Streets and the Chamber of Commerce have been very helpful and the community has been very supportive. John encourages customers to be patient and understand that businesses are under-staffed and may be struggling with unseen issues. Customers may pay online and pick-up orders curbside or do contactless pick-up inside. The staff have increased sanitation efforts in the restaurant. There has not been a problem in getting restaurant supplies, but it takes longer. John feels lucky that restaurants have been able to stay open when so many businesses have had to close.
