-
In Episode 10 of COVID Chronicles, Josiah sat down with Michael Ahearn from the Peabody Library. Michael has been 3D printing masks to assist our Department of Public Services.
-
Michael Ahearn, programming librarian the Peabody Institute Library, runs the library's makerspace, knowns as the Creativity Lab. The lab includes a 3-D printer, recording studio, etc. People of all ages use the lab for a variety of projects from home repair projects to entrepreneurial projects. Recently, Michael has started to create personal protective equipment/face shields using the lab's 3-D printer. The mask design being used has been approved by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The final products will go health care facilities and to city employees. Michael uses a 3-D modeling program provided by the NIH. He described the 3-D printing process (with the aid of a video clip).
